I don’t usually share what a contractor or developer does with one of my properties after I sell it, but as you’ll recall from this post, I put a lot of time and effort into the plans for this home and was completely stymied by the local historical commissioner’s dismissive attitude towards it. If I recall, his exact words were, “You can do better.” (Thanks for that flashback to high school, by the way!!)
Anyway, the property is nearing completion and the builder used my plans for the house, which, even if I say so myself, looks beautiful! Remember, we started with this (video):
and now it looks like this!
The interior still needs flooring and finishes, but you can see the outline of the design and the easy flow from one room to the next, particularly in the first floor.
As I mentioned, I invested a good amount of time and emotion into this floor plan to appease the ZBA, the neighbors, myself (the PICKIEST) AND as it turned out, the historical board, and I was bummed I didn’t end up being one to build it. I didn’t even realize the new builder would keep the plans (I thought they’d change it up), but I was flattered to see my first customized design come to life.
A job well done to the builder and a cool moment of seeing an idea transformed into physical reality.
Keep calm and rehab on. Peace out!
